International audienceThe paper focuses on psychic plurality, particularly on its transformations and evolution. From a theoretical point of view, psychic plurality evolves from Janet, Federn and Kaësʼs works. In psychotherapy, this notion gave rise to treatments that differently mobilise representational processes, and alter the internal groupality when such becomes pathogenic. This point concerns the hypnotic model called “ego states” therapy, which is an ideal application of the psycheʼs groupal model because of the central role played by the dissociative process. The authors emphasize the importance of the “ego states” therapy in the treatment of dissociative pathologies and remind that, according to constructivism, many factors should be taken into account when interpreting hypnotic phenomena.

The landscape of tooth shape: Over 20 years of dental topography in primates

    Get PDF
Diet plays an incontrovertible role in primate evolution, affecting anatomy, growth and development, behavior, and social structure. It should come as no surprise that a myriad of methods for reconstructing diet have developed, mostly utilizing the element that is not only most common in the fossil record but also most pertinent to diet: teeth. Twenty years ago, the union of traditional, anatomical analyses with emerging scanning and imaging technologies led to the development of a new method for quantifying tooth shape and reconstructing the diets of extinct primates. This method became known as dental topography. [Abstract copyright: © 2020 The Authors. Evolutionary Anthropology published by Wiley Periodicals LLC.

The Development of Financial Economics in France between the Mid-1970s and the Early 1980s: Import or Rediscovery?

To date, little research has documented the international diffusion of financial economics. Financial economics was supposedly “introduced” in France in the 1970s. Some analysts have argued that it is an American author—Leonard J. Savage—who allowed French authors to rediscover Louis Bachelier’s work, indicating that “a prophet is not without honor, save in his own country.” The present article challenges this conventional narrative and studies for the first time how financial economics was disseminated in France between the mid-1970s and the early 1980s. It shows that, when financial economics was “imported” from the United States in France in 1970s, some pioneering French contributions have been taught for almost a century. Based on this result, the article explains why the French authors who disseminated these ideas rarely referred to the works of French forerunners. It also clarifies the role of the French economists in this process. All of this suggests that the “import” of financial economics in France was in fact a reintroduction

Ionizing radiation effects on CMOS imagers manufactured in deep submicron process

We present here a study on both CMOS sensors and elementary structures (photodiodes and in-pixel MOSFETs) manufactured in a deep submicron process dedicated to imaging. We designed a test chip made of one 128×128-3T-pixel array with 10 µm pitch and more than 120 isolated test structures including photodiodes and MOSFETs with various implants and different sizes. All these devices were exposed to ionizing radiation up to 100 krad and their responses were correlated to identify the CMOS sensor weaknesses. Characterizations in darkness and under illumination demonstrated that dark current increase is the major sensor degradation. Shallow trench isolation was identified to be responsible for this degradation as it increases the number of generation centers in photodiode depletion regions. Consequences on hardness assurance and hardening-by-design are discussed

This work aims to make the experimental study of a thermoacoustic refrigerator in order to observe the essential parameters for its operation. The thermoacoustic refrigeration is a technology which emerged in the 1970s as an alternative solution to classic refrigeration systems that work with steam compression. It has many advantages over traditional technologies in terms of wear, maintenance and pollution and this makes it an economically interesting research topic. There are already many efficient devices in the area of industrial refrigeration for food and natural gas liquefaction and in the area of embedded systems. The operation of such devices consists in converting an acoustic power into a thermal power through the passage of a sound wave throughout a porous structure known as stack. Inside this structure, the gas particles vibrate by effecting a thermodynamic cycle able to recover heat from one side of the stack and supplying it to the other side. Thus, the part is cooling on one side and heating on the other by accumulation of heat. So the goal is to recover the low temperature from the cold side, however this has an influence on the efficiency of the system by heating the cold side. Also cooling the hot side of the machine seems to be a solution to keep a temperature low enough on the cold side.

Projet MEVAL{{\P\n,¸N\geq 1 } is a sequence of standard polling networks, consisting of NN nodes attended by V\n mobile servers. When a server arrives at a node ii, he serves one of the waiting customers, if any, and then moves to node jj with probability p_{ij}\n. Customers arrive according to a Poisson process. Service requirements and switch-over times between nodes are independent exponentially distributed random variables. The behavior of \P\n is analyzed in {\em thermodynamic limit}, i.e when both NN and V\n tend to infinity, with $U\egaldef\lim_{N\rightarrow\infty}V\n/N,\

Genetic selection for active E.coIi amber tRNAASn exclusively led to glutamine inserting suppressors

International audienceSuppressor tRNAs are useful tools for determining identity elements which define recognition of tRNAs in vivo by their cognate aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases. This study was aimed at the isolation of active amber tRNAASn. Nineteen mutated tRNAASnfcuA having amber suppressor activity were selected by an in vivo genetic screen, and all exclusively inserted glutamine. From analysis of the different mutations it is concluded that glutamine accepting activity was obtained upon reducing the interaction strength between the first base pair of the tRNAASnfCuA by direct or indirect effects. Failure to isolate tRNAASnfcuA suppressors charged with asparagine as well as other evolutionary related amino acids is discussed

Exchange of coordinated solvent during crystallisation of a metal-organic framework observed by in situ high energy X-ray diffraction

Using time-resolved monochromatic high energy X-ray diffraction, we present an in situ study of the solvothermal crystallisation of a new MOF [Yb2(BDC)3(DMF)2]⋅H2O (BDC=benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate and DMF=N,N-dimethylformamide) under solvothermal conditions, from mixed water/DMF solvent. Analysis of high resolution powder patterns obtained reveals an evolution of lattice parameters and electron density during the crystallisation process and Rietveld analysis shows that this is due to a gradual topochemical replacement of coordinated solvent molecules. The water initially coordinated to Yb3+ is replaced by DMF as the reaction progresses
